The medium, Elizabeth Stolwort, had been reported missing a week after the events that night and was eventually found in a woodland nearby her home. Massive blood loss was the cause of death due to several deep lacerations across the body, both eyes had been violently gouged out. Others who had attended the sitting suffered from mental breakdowns or hallucinations, two had commited suicide.
The Retchford house was known as a cursed abode. Muder, madness and even black magic was connected to this haunted place where 78 years ago a séance destroyed the lives of six curious people and their psychic hostess.
